CALL FOR PAPERS

Digital twin (DT) is a game-changing technology in mobile networks, systems, and applications. The main idea behind the digital twin is to build an emulated digital replica of a physical system or component in order to monitor, analyze, predict, simulate, and optimize its behavior. DTs can empower the development and operation of mobile networks to facilitate the design and implementation of more powerful features and services. DTs can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of new algorithms, policies, and services, when it is risky to apply them to online real-world networks or the real-world networks cannot offer sufficient opportunities for testing during operation. Furthermore, DT-empowered mobile networks are innate to integrate with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to automatically optimize mobile networks by applying AI algorithms to the digital replica and taking advantage of real-time interaction and synchronization between physical systems and their digital replica. Effective DT implementation can contribute to the success of mobile networks and systems in B5G or even beyond, giving researchers, developers, and operators the opportunity to conduct what-if analysis, emulate and test different configurations, and find optimal operations. This workshop aims to attract research papers with original contributions that address and promote the recent advancements in the integration of digital twins and mobile networks, systems, and applications.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Novel architecture and protocols for digital twin-empowered mobile networks

  • Scalable, lightweight, and fault-tolerant digital twins for mobile networks

  • AI/machine learning for digital twin in mobile networks

  • Statistical modeling for digital twin of mobile networks

  • Digital twin for resource management, network optimization, and network operation

  • Security and privacy for digital twin-empowered mobile networks

  • Innovative applications and services for digital twin-empowered mobile networks

  • Hardware, software, and platforms for digital twin-empowered mobile networks

  • Simulations, prototypes, and testbeds for digital twin-empowered mobile networks

  •

We invite your submissions and welcome the following types of submissions:

  • Technical papers:

Original research with preliminary results to address the various systems issues for building digital twin-empowered mobile networks, systems and applications. We welcome papers addressing all sorts of issues as displayed in the above list of topics.

  • Position papers:

Essays that present an arguable opinion about a specific issue of building digital twin-empowered mobile systems. The goal of position papers is to convince the audience of the validity of the presented opinion and call for more research efforts in the proposed direction. Such papers should primarily focus on the technology or ecosystem aspects of the digital twins with a strong focus on systems and applications.

  • Short Survey papers:

This track solicits review papers which are relevant to emerging digital twin-empowered mobile systems content and go beyond the usual research paper and present new perspectives that stimulate the community to pursue innovative new research directions. The work may challenge existing assumptions and methodologies or propose new roadmaps for the unprecedented opportunities from the digital twin-enabled mobile systems. The submitted papers are encouraged to present high-risk controversial ideas, or profound reflections that lead to a high-level synthetic viewpoint.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

All submissions must be provided in PDF format, and follow the formatting guidelines of MobiSys 2023. Submitted papers should be no longer than 6 pages (including references and appendices). DTMS follows a single-blinded review process. All submission must use a 10pt font (or larger) and be correctly formatted for printing on Letter-sized (8.5" by 11") paper. Paper text blocks must follow ACM guidelines: double-column, with each column 9.25" by 3.33", 0.33" space between columns and single-spaced.

Papers are to be submitted at: https://dtms23.hotcrp.com/
