NLP Beyond Text 2021 - Call for Papers
Second International Workshop on Natural Language Processing Beyond Text (NLPBT 2021)
Co-located with The Web Conference 2021
https://sites.google.com/view/nlpbt-2021
The web is an endless source of information that can be provided in different formats, including text, image, video or audio. At the same time, the way people access the web is rapidly evolving: new forms of interactions (e.g., visual or voice-based) are integrating or replacing the traditional text-based interaction. Conversational assistants, such as Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, represent a notable example of an advanced human-machine interaction.
Therefore, the capability of processing multi-modal data and interpreting user gestures, voice or facial expressions is becoming crucial in modern systems.
This workshop aims to be a forum for both academia and industry researchers where new and unfinished research in the area of Multi/Cross-Modal NLP can be discussed. In particular, the focus of this workshop are (i) studying how to bridge the gap between NLP on spoken and written language and (ii) exploring how NLU models can be empowered by jointly analyzing multiple input sources, including language (spoken or written), vision (gestures and expressions) and acoustic (paralinguistic) modalities.

Additional Information and Contact Details
==========================================
The workshop is running a double-blind review process. In preparing your manuscript, do not include any information which could reveal your identity, or that of your co-authors. In your submission, you should eliminate all direct references to your own previous work. That is, avoid phrases such as "this contribution generalizes our results for XYZ". Also, please do not disproportionately cite your own previous work. In other words, make your submission as anonymous as possible. We need your cooperation in our effort to maintain a fair, double-blind reviewing process - and to consider all submissions equally.
