Call for Papers General Overview and Topics

SINERGIE Soc. Cons. a r. l. – Italian Research & Training Centre - is launching a call for papers in order to collect best practices related to start-ups incubation and acceleration services and innovative business models, with a specific focus on those realities that have sustainable development, energy efficiency and environment protection at their core. Those topics will be tackled by I AM GREEN project, funded by Horizon2020-INNOSUP-2018-2020 programme under GA n° 959548.

We invite researchers, academics, professionals and entrepreneurs to submit a paper on any project related contents. Possible topics include:

Best practices for incubation models and start-up academies;

Funding and financing opportunities for incubators, start-up academies and new companies;

Best practices of start-ups and/or entrepreneurial ideas with a vocation to sustainability and green economy, creating value for the society as a whole;

Development of peer-learning and creation of new forms of collaboration;

Best practices of Industrial symbiosis between start-ups and well-settled companies;

Best practices of training, support programmes, acceleration services and coaching for new entrepreneurs and start-ups.

Authors of the accepted papers will be invited to present their work at the virtual Kick-Off Meeting (KOM) of I AM GREEN, which will take place online in February 2021. Besides, the papers will be mentioned on the “DOP (Design Option Paper) of an Incubation Academy Model” and published as an annex, which represents the main output of the project and the result of a peer-reviewed process. Furthermore, they will be available on official publication channels of the European Commission.

I AM GREEN project aims at supporting start-ups and new entrepreneurs to consider climate change and environmental challenges as business opportunities, managing to benefit society as a whole, by thinking in terms of sustainable development. The project targets start-ups with a vocation to sustainability and green economy, and eco-entrepreneurs creating value for the society and the environment.

The call is open to candidates from all over the world and does not require any participation fee. The opportunity to welcome scientific contributions from EU and non-EU countries, in fact, will provide the project with a much wider perspective on already existing experiences of academy and incubation models at an international level.

Call for Papers Timetable

The present call officially opens on 01/12/2020 and closes on 20/01/2021.

Submitting the papers on time is crucial for the smooth management and success of the project. The following procedures and timetable will apply:

Deadline for papers – By 20/01/2021 at 17h00, authors should submit a paper and a 250-words abstract summarizing the text outline and main objectives. Papers must be no longer than 2500 words. Both paper and abstract, along with the author’s contact information, should be submitted in PDF format via email to SINERGIE at the following email address: innovazione@sinergie-italia.com. Please write “Start-ups Call for papers” in the subject line. SINERGIE will be at authors’ disposal to provide general guidance in completing the paper within the due deadline.

Evaluation process - Evaluation will be based on the following criteria: originality of ideas, clarity of presentation, relevance with project topics and objectives, contribution to the debate around said objectives, thorough treatment of those ideas. Each Paper will be screened by the internal SINERGIE Committee to ensure its quality of exposition and relevance to the I AM GREEN project’s main topics.

Approving the papers – By 25/01/2021, SINERGIE will take a decision on all papers submitted, knowing that the number of accepted ones may be limited. All authors will be contacted to notify the result of their submission, either positive or negative. Not-selected papers: SINERGIE reserves the right not to publish a submitted paper. Authors of those papers will be invited to participate as auditors in the KOM. Selected papers will be mentioned in the DOP and included as an annex in the document. The DOP will be made available on Cordis and other publication channels of the European Commission (e.g. OpenAire). Authors of those papers will be invited to present their paper during the I AM GREEN Kick-Off Meeting.

Deadline for the pitch – By 01/02/2021 at 12h00, authors of the selected papers should submit a pitch of the main topics tackled in their work, which will be showcased during the I AM GREEN KOM. The pitch should be made of 3-5 slides max. and possibly structured in the form of an Elevator Pitch. By the abovementioned deadline, pitch should be sent in PDF format via email to SINERGIE at the following email address: innovazione@sinergie-italia.com

Presenting the paper – Selected papers will be presented at the I AM GREEN KOM, which will be held online in the second half of February 2021. Authors will be contacted in advance to organise all logistic issues concerning their participation in the meeting.

Papers and pitch must be written in English.
