The Agonist

Humanities, Literature & Arts (General) Philosophy

One of Nietzsche’s most well know ideas, and one which is central to his philosophy, is that of the Übermensch or overhuman. One way of understanding this notion is in terms of a foreseen overcoming of human limitations and evolution into something that is no longer “human, all too human.” From a Nietzschean perspective, it is tempting to perceive the ubiquitous contemporary advancements in computing technology, artificial intelligence, and automation, and the transformations of individuals and society those advancements entail, as just such an overcoming that is beyond good and evil. We invite authors to submit essays exploring the above and related themes concerning Nietzsche, AI, and the future of humanity.
