About ICT4HD 2019
It has been nearly 20 years since the United Nationals launched its effort to achieve universal primary education as part of Millennium Development Goals initiative. While significant progress has been made in improving global literacy and getting more children, especially girls, back into the classroom, many challenges still remain. Globalization, geography and geopolitical issues, conflict, gender discrimination and poverty are among most often cited as barriers to quality education. One barrier, however, that is often overlooked is the Digital Divide – a socioeconomic disparity that places constraints and limits on access to information and communication technology as a means of learning.
Students and teachers at all levels of education, from primary school to university, will generally agree that access to information and communication technology is no longer a novelty for just improved gaming or mobile phone apps, but actually an extremely important resource for learning of everything from a foreign language to making a business presentation. Arguably, advancements in education technology are reshaping the way that educators teach and they way in which students learn. For example, consider how distance education has benefited greatly from e-learning and improved the learning environment and the learning experience or how the use of blended learning has made it possible to study any subject, anytime and anywhere. Thus, our focus and theme for ICT4HD 2019 will be Education Technology: Challenges and Opportunities.
We welcome proposals of 250 words in English by Friday, August 16, 2019.
