In 2019, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) has a jubilee:
150 years since its establishment.
In this context, BAS together with the Regional Center for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO is organizing an international scientific forum in the period 17-18 October 2019 on the topic:
Current Problems in the Study of Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Implementation of Convention 2003. Contribution of the Scientists from BAS
The forum will be a central scientific event dedicated to the anniversary. Its purpose is to offer a modern vision of a relatively new field of humanitarian and social knowledge, such as that of intangible cultural heritage (ICH). We expect to discuss both the characteristics of the immanent essence of ICH and the modelling and implementation of contemporary cultural policies related to its preservation in the context of the processes of implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (Convention 2003).
In connection with the 150th anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, a thematic focus of the forum will be the work done by scientists at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the field of ICH study, the modelling of national cultural policies and the implementation of the 2003 Convention.
We are inviting you to participate in the forum. Official languages: Bulgarian and English.
We shall be looking forward to applications (author, institution, position, subject, abstract up to 800 characters) by June 15, 2019. They will be reviewed by the Forum's Executive Committee, and by July 15, 2019 confirmations will be sent to join the program. Please send your requests to an email address:
